I was looking through my files for an image to process for Texture Tuesday. I found this image of makeup brushes. It's a full color image, but I decided to experiment with it in Lightroom.
I added Kim's Dark Day and Quiet Dreams presets. Then I took it into Topaz Adjust to return a bit of detail and add a border... then back to LR for a slight vignette and a bit of grain. I wanted it to look like an old Hollywood photo.
Below I added Kim's Word texture blend mode color burn at
52% opacity.
More Texture Tuesday here. You'll get to see Kim's post about her article in Stampington's "Artful Blogging" publication. Congrats, Kim!
Sometimes it's easy to overlook the everyday beauty around us. I love this!
ReplyDeleteYou've put years on it :-)
ReplyDeleteAmazing how we can bamboozle viewers with textures.
I wonder what a preset is.
The container the brushes are in is very pretty. I think the second photo looks even more vintage than the first ,but both are lovely.
ReplyDeleteGreat edit and it does look vintage.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun you had with your brushes! I find it so hard to take color out of a photo but this was the perfect photo prop for that experimentation.
ReplyDeleteTerrific Marilyn,
ReplyDeleteyou do amazing photo work!
Very cool image- love the look of old Hollywood! Nice processing!
ReplyDeleteI love how these effects age the image and add such drama too!
ReplyDeleteI like what you've done here!

These are wonderful, Marilyn.
ReplyDeleteI love the contrast in both.
what fun! it does look like an old hollywood photo - great job!
ReplyDeleteThe Word texture really makes this image interesting! And what a great subject. I just shopped for new makeup and noticed the brushes cost more than the makeup!
ReplyDeleteOooh!! These are wonderful. I think the second one is my favourite - love all that texture.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting textures, I like the second one!
ReplyDeleteWonderful processing !!
ReplyDeleteI love the muted tones you ended up with! Great texture on the second one too!
ReplyDeleteGreat processing--the images are beautiful!
ReplyDeletenice brushes and texture too!
ReplyDeleteGreat texturizing here. It really feels like an old movie star's dressing table. Maybe Carole Lombard or Claudette Colbert. :)
