I'm slowly getting back to "everyday life". I visited my DIL and granddaughters for turkey. I got to see all the family including a few on my side I haven't seen for a while. Hard to imagine the holiday season is upon us when the temperatures are in the 70's. We finally had a little rain over the week-end and are due for a lot more tomorrow and Wednesday. Oh, how we need it!!
Here are a couple of the ladies who participated in Gather

using this for my entry. I used a layer of KK-Claires and a layer of KK-Hughes on this. The text brush is Kim's also.
My DH and I decided not to give gifts to each other this year. We have enough "things", so we are taking ourselves out for dinners and lunches. Of course we will have our get together and gifts for the grands. What are you all doing this year for your holiday? Any special traditions?

Lunches and dinners beat gifts in my book. The grandsons like money, which simplifies ...
if not personal, it's their preference.

ReplyDeleteOh, it's lovely to see those two beauties on the beach! Sigh ... I miss Gather so much ... and am so pleased that I got to meet you, Marilyn. Hubby and I don't give gifts, really ... whenever we buy something close to December, we call it our gift! Of course I do shop for small gifts for the kids and grandkids, but we give money, which simplifies my life a ton.

We enjoy getting together, and our Navy grandson will be home and we're looking forward to seeing him. I do love all the decorations and lights.

ReplyDeleteWe still do gifts for the children, although this year, we're mostly keeping the gifts to books. As it is, they get too many gifts from uncles and aunties and the grandparents!

ReplyDeleteOh how I wish I lived where there was a beach and ocean. Love the photo and the words. We gave up exchanging gifts a few years ago. Our children have enough to do to buy for their kids and people buy what they need now so we decided to just enjoy Christmas together and a nice meal. We still buy for the little ones, but anyone over 18 with a job, they're on their own. :) Besides, once we retired there just isn't the funds for the large Christmas anymore. We're back to trying to celebrate the meaning of the season. :)

Mine will be quiet with my Granddaughter and daughter and SIL. My son is in Portland and he will be there for Christmas with his family, my DIL, and two grandsons. They will have the other grandparents there for Christmas. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Your image is a lovely memory.

ReplyDeleteWe always have to fill each others stockings but this past week we had to buy new washer and dryer and decided to go ahead and replace the floor. Merry Christmas. My phone is acting up too and our contract is renewable in a week so there is another Merry Christmas. My husband HATES shopping so I just have to 'show' him what I want. That is not fun to me but at least I get good stuff. Have a GREAT Christmas.

Love the photo with the golden light, so beautiful ! My Christmas will be mostly quiet, just the two of us, as both our families live far away, either in a different state or a different country. Our neighbor usually invites us to be a part of their family gathering, which is wonderful, so we get to see their little grandkids opening their gifts :)
