stamp carvings

These are my first two attempts at carving my own stamps. The first one was done on a white plastic eraser. The second was carved on a Speedball carving block. It took some time and patience, particularly on the second carving, as it is so intricate. Neither is as clean as I would like, but I'm happy with my first images. They are fine for journal art and collage. Thank you "greylady" for encouraging me to "just do it". My granddaughter helped me get started on the second one. It was a little daunting to me with all the little corners and turns. It's so much fun to try new techniques.

Hibiscus

Using my Derwent watercolor pencils, I'm finally venturing out into colors. This was done from a photograph I took.

Linking in my posts

Melissa says I can highlight an item and then click on the icon that looks like a globe with a chain and input the URL to that item so let me try it. For information on art journal instructions. I have gotten some new ideas. Now I'll see if this works. Oh, the world of technical geeks. I was born a bit too early. But I love learning new things.

EDM #70 - my greatest fear

I think this sketch accurately portrays the fear I have when I think I may be lost. And being lost and alone is really scary. Perhaps I have also shown my hesitation in making major life decisions.

Alone

One of my biggest fears is the thought of being alone. I have actually had these thoughts. Though I know my fears are unfounded, I'm still just as fearful. This journal page was done to convey that fear. When EDM listed a challenge as one's biggest fear, I had already done this journal page. So, I did a sketch with a little different twist. It's also one of my biggest fears - being lost and alone.

Empty Mail Box

I took my first painting class and my second drawing class. Same teacher. Not much instruction going on. It felt like studio time. "Here's some paint and here's a canvas paper, two brushes and a drawing". More or less "go for it". So for me it was a struggle but I vow to stick with the classes because I'm sure to get something out of them.Next week we are supposed to bring "large" brushes, even house painting brushes so the class will work more loosely. This is going to be interesting.

Five items in Frig

These are five items I almost always have in my frig - Kalamata olives, several kinds of cheeses, great herb tea, garlic basil mayo and various kinds of lettuce for salads.

Fireplug

I cannot believe I have not posted for so long. Just returned from Sacramento area. After drawing a fire hydrant for the EDM challenge, I seem to be aware of them. This one was in Nevada City, CA. Beautiful colors. I wish all fireplugs could be colored and covered with art.
