Day 6

I couldn't possibly leave out my darling Oliver, better known to us as "Ollie".  This little whippet is
delightful to live with.  Day 6
had to be his day.

We are here to to awaken from our illusion of
separateness.

Day 5

It's another day in PS land.  This is my darling greyhound Lotus
hamming it up for the camera.  I posterized her, so we
can now call her the poster dog for PS.
In case you're wondering what the small numbers in the top corner are, that's the minutes taken for the project.

Thought for the day.......
Connection is why we're here.  It's what gives purpose and meaning
to our lives

I Needed This Today

This woman is so wise and has so much of value to share.   Makes me want to watch her videos, buy her books, and if I weren't married, and she were a man, I'd even want to marry her.  Well maybe not that extreme, but she is just a wealth of information and encouragement.  It's 20 min. but it's a wonderful 20 min..... and besides all that, she's funny!

Day 4

An image in transition......
became this
became this
became this
Just a few simple steps, but it takes so long because I play around with various images and filters before I decide the final outcome.  I may play around with my sketch of calla lily leaves several times to get different looks.

The most perfect technique is that which is not noticed at all.

Day 3

Already I'm a day behind posting.  Oh well, there's always tomorrow.
Meanwhile........
I used my own images, drawing, and texture for this.

Day 2

This is day 2 of my Photoshop journey for 2011.  My hope is to post one every day for at least the rest of January and all of February (or until I get bored with the whole idea).
I spent the day with my friend Jacki and we exchanged Photoshop tidbits.  I learned a whole lot.  She's such
a wonderful artist.
In case you are wondering what happened to
day 1, I decided not to post as I had used a photo from the newspaper.  It's the copyright issue.....
Thanks to Kandy on Flickr Commons for the texture.

Making Light

I took images with brilliant color and used blending modes, gradient maps and textures to give them a more subdued look.  Possibilities are endless.

Nevermore

I'm drawn to pale colors and the dreamy look with altered images.  This is a little different.  It is from a lesson in my Art of Texture class.
It makes me think of Edgar Allan Poe and his poem The Raven.  The beautiful jacaranda tree is about two blocks away from my house.  Every year it wears the most beautiful dress of lavender and is just radiant. This treatment gives it a somewhat ominous appearance necessary for that vintage spooky look.

Ballet Slippers

Reminds me of my youth.....  I was sure I wanted to be a prima ballerina until the teacher told me I was too tall.  Took the wind right out of my sails.  I really love all the photographic studies of ballerinas and their costumes.  Such grace and beauty.
