This should be called the leaning tower ruby decanter. I was trying to capture the reflections and there were so many.....

Building Perspective Practice
I need a lot more practice on perspective. I understand the "vanishing point" intellectually, but getting it correct on paper is a different thing. So I just continue on telling myself that I will eventually get it. I can see that the top of the building is not right which throws off the rest of the sketch.

Update on Lotus Blossom
Lotus, our new adopted greyhound, is like a new dog. She is a happy girl, a real tail wagger. She has integrated into the household very well. Very curious about everything, poking her nose here and there. I also saw her "counter surfing", so we have to work on that. I noticed on our walks that her "prey drive" is pretty high. She would love to go after any small moving animal. Makes sense since I'm sure she was trained to hunt. Those good old boys in the high desert hunt coyotes and rabbits with the greys. I'm sure she will be much happier having "landed" in our household where she will be totally spoiled. Her hunting days are over.
Fooling with Shading - Shadows
We went to the local farmers' market yesterday. Since I am from the South, I was delighted to see fresh okra. I promply brought it home with other items. I don't care for it boiled as the texture is too viscous. However, I do love it coated in cornmeal and fried. It's almost like popcorn. I saved a couple to draw. Overnight one of the roses in a vase near it shattered, so I drew a couple of those petals as well. Used colored pencils to color and was unable to get the really light pink for the one. I was practicing and playing around with different types of hatchmarks for shadows.

Better Late than Never
For EDM #73 This is our mailbox. I could not have an ordinary mailbox. I had to have something artistic. I purchased it prior to my starting my art. It happens to be done in my fave colors -- teal and purple. And, I do love hummingbirds. So it looks perfect at the curb in front of our Calif. cottage.
