Here We Go Again

I learned a new technique - using the mosaic filter over an image used for texture creating a sort of mask.  I subscribe to Photoshop Elements User and with that subscription I have access to all sorts of
wonderful videos from people with so much skill in Photoshop.  This was done after watching a tutorial by Corey Barker.   Check this out
For a texture I used a photo of smoke from Owen's Photostream_Flickr commons.

The image I used for the mosaic texture is courtesy  Robbie's Photostream_Flickr commons.

What's Behind the Green Door?

Starting Over...........
I started Digital Magic classes again.  Just making sure I remember the techniques.  This one used the stroke selection, drop shadow, stamp visible and fill layer techniques
It also incorporates removing color or desaturating and then adding the different color fill layer.

Garden Angel

Working with Layers........
I know the wings have been overdone but I was looking for something simple to add to the young girl.  Thank you, Trudi, for the image of the girl. The mask is from Coffeeshop.
The wings I found at Free Digital Photos courtesy of Filamino Scalise.  It still takes me a while to combine layers, add masks and watermarks, but it's becoming a little easier.  Actually in looking at the finished product I want to go back and crop the photo.  The grow pots at the base of the beautiful pot may be fine in the nursery setting but they are not very attractive.
Have a great day and thanks for visiting my blog!

Printing on Various Substrates

My latest lesson was on printing and anything and everything.... cheesecloth, tin foil, glossy surfaces, magazine paper.  You name it, I tried it.  I did have several disasters, but I also had a few successes. This one on tin foil -- I like the crinkly texture.

Giveaway!

Ketti's having a giveaway.....
I'm drooling over this great camera bag.  It has room for cell phone, keys, etc.  plus camera and a few lenses and looks just like a stylish handbag.
She makes these bags by hand, so they are semi-custom.  Just pick the fabric.
You know you would just love it, so hop on over to her site and leave your comment.

You could be the lucky winner.  While you're there check out all the other unique fabrics.

Walking on Sunshine

Instead of making a brush, I used the pencil tool.
I do believe I need some practice with it.
Hard to keep it steady.  I can see why those who have a Wacom tablet, or something similar, like them.  Drawing with the mouse is a little unsteady.
Let's try it again

A little better but I'll just keep practicing......

Sweet Innocence

Playing Around......
I wanted to have some sort of hand drawn border here  - don't have a Wacom tablet.  So I drew on a piece of white paper, scanned it in and made it into a brush.

So Much to Learn

I will be really sad for my Digital Magic class to end.  It has been so much fun.  For the past couple days I have done some more "creations" using the skills I learned from Marie.
and a variation

and one more

The image is mine.
The mask and frames are either from House of 3 or Jessicasprague.com
I also used CoffeeShop's "Moody Pop" action.
This week we are doing printing on a variety of substrates and I will be attempting my first print using a digital ground.  Keep your fingers crossed.

Great Class

Woohooo!! I finished week 4 and hopefully have some time this week-end to use some of these skills to do some more creative pieces.
This week was all about incorporating filters such as the high pass filter, layer masks, combining multiple images, creative text effects, adding digital elements such as a frame and expanding the canvas size.

Confidence

I've spent so many hours playing in Digital Magic's classes, I've been remiss in posting.  Here's what I've worked on using various textures, filters and effects.
and

and a polaroid transfer emulsion effect

I'm beginning to get a bit of confidence as I figure out how to work actions.  Any new step takes me forever, and I lose all track of time.  It does get faster and easier with practice.
The polaroid transfer emulsion action is by CoffeeShop.
