Empty Mail Box

I took my first painting class and my second drawing class. Same teacher. Not much instruction going on. It felt like studio time. "Here's some paint and here's a canvas paper, two brushes and a drawing". More or less "go for it". So for me it was a struggle but I vow to stick with the classes because I'm sure to get something out of them.Next week we are supposed to bring "large" brushes, even house painting brushes so the class will work more loosely. This is going to be interesting.

I like your mailbox - sort of standing there trying to look homely in a bleak looking landscape

I like this painting alot! I, too, have had art classes like that. It has led me to wonder whether there really is no other way to learn than to just keep doing it over and over and over. (darn it!) Though, sometimes I see that I am making the same mistakes over and over and would love a teacher to come and say "here is an easy way to fix that"!!
