The Path

Our theme for Pixel Art Friday is something that incorporates the element of a path.  I looked in my archives and found lots of images with paths -- the trick is to decide which one.  Since I was not feeling very decisive, I chose one and then added a collage of the others.
First up, the final image is of an alleyway in Laguna Beach.  This alley is behind one of my favorite
little restaurants "Madison Square and Garden".  It's a funky little place with outdoor seating
and lots of "Laguna Charm".
Um......back to paths..... one of these frames..
or this frame...

I used Bonnie's "You Framed Me" texture and the "cutout" filter after I desaturated the image.  Then I tried different frames.
and then the collage for the other paths.....

Oh, how I'm going to miss Picnik.  I tried several other photo editing sites, but they just don't measure up.  If anyone knows of a good one, please do tell me.  I use PSE 9 for most of my editing but I like the little fun effects I can get so easily with Picnik.
I can't wait to see what everyone else did with this challenge.  You are all so talented and unique in your approach.

Beautifully done Marilyn. It is so interesting how the different frames you added impart a whole different mood to the image. I like them all, but would say the third frame suits the image best (to my eye). Thank you for sharing your art with PAF.

These are great! I love the cutout effect on the desaturated image - I'll have to try that! I also scrolled down to your Texture Tuesday post - great images there, too!

Good morning Marilyn,
I liked the different lines and the treatment of the road idea.

Do we have to pick just one?? I like them all. I like the graphic feel these images invoke for me. I also had to smile at your skateboarder. My youngest son was always on one. Have you tried photoscape, pixlr and gimp? They are all free downloads.

Very nicely done! Your Laguna path image lends itself perfectly to the black and white treatment. I like all the frames but my fave is probably the last one.

The cutout filter and the frames work really well with this image. Nice job!

Hi Marilyn - wonderful image. I am drawn to the third frame the most; for me it highlights and keeps my eye within the frame. Love the collage paths, also. Take care and greetings from AK... Karen

First great image to work with and I love all the frames - each one changes the feel just slightly!

Did you notice that picasa has incorporated some of the favorites from picnik like, ortonish, lomoish, posterize, cross process etc. I too will miss picnik....

Just heard about PicMonkey - maybe you could try it!

Marylin, beautiful shots. And by the way piknik is till available from the PICASA web albums and a scaled back version of it is available from google+. I too like the simplicity of it. Thanks for visiting my blog and commenting on my picture.

the second frame is the best one IMO. It suits the style in the photo. :)

Cool to see the image with different frames, and I liked them all. If I had to choose, I would take the first one! Great work!
