Great Class

Woohooo!! I finished week 4 and hopefully have some time this week-end to use some of these skills to do some more creative pieces.

This week was all about incorporating filters such as the high pass filter, layer masks, combining multiple images, creative text effects, adding digital elements such as a frame and expanding the canvas size.

to use the replace color tool, the cookie cutter/shape tool, the magic wand tool....... and some more layer masks, more effects and more layers and texture to create interest and depth

Tomorrow is the final project for this week's class.

Confidence

I've spent so many hours playing in Digital Magic's classes, I've been remiss in posting.  Here's what I've worked on using various textures, filters and effects.

I'm beginning to get a bit of confidence as I figure out how to work actions.  Any new step takes me forever, and I lose all track of time.  It does get faster and easier with practice.

The polaroid transfer emulsion action is by CoffeeShop.

Whole New World

There's a whole new world in Photoshop...........

Well, maybe not for those experienced people, but for me I've found 

a whole new world with Photoshop "actions".

Week two of Digital Magic has proved to be  very

enlightening as Marie Otero takes us through the magic of these actions.

This first example from Coffeeshop is a really simple one

called "Moody Pop".  It really does make my photo have a  moody look

to it.

I think these actions are something like macros in Excel - little shortcuts

where the designer has done all the work and I get to enjoy the fruits of their

labor.

I also took advantage of Coffeeshop's free action called "Baby Powder Room" to clean up my grand's teen-age face in the photo below.  Once I got the hang of it, it was faster than using the clone and healing brush tools.

PHOTO CHALLENGE

The June challenge for Clickin' Moms is to spend 20 min. in your bathroom

 and do a photo shoot.  I shot 47 photos in that time.  This

 was one of my least favorite shots.  The angles are weird and the lighting is not the best.  However I was fascinated with the bathroom lights and decided to play with 

filters in PSE.

I cropped this original and applied some different filters for different results.

and this was posterized

The worst shots will probably become textures

Maiden on Watercolor

Here I used one of my watercolors and imposed another image of a shattered rose plus one of my sketches of a young maiden.  I added an image of an old letter courtesy of Lenore Locken.  I played with filters and color enhancements and added a frame.

 This can get really addictive!!

It's definitely digital around here lately........

I combined one of my paintings with one of the mannequin images  and a wood texture from Morgue File   This is another exercise from Susan Tuttle's book using photo filters and lighting effects.  

Imagination Rules

I have just purchased Susan Tuttle's book "Digital Expressions" which I love.  I did this exercise and I'm sure those of you who have the book will recognize it.  I plan to play some more with the techniques on some of my own images.  These images were from Morgue File  I also used brushes  found on http://www.obsidiandawn.com/. 

I love these mannequin images.
