Some cards I made using mi xed media collage and encaustic wax. I love the technique. I always like to have some cards on hand. The way I started this whole art thing was buying rubber stamps (because I thought I could not draw
) thinking I would save so much money on greeting cards. LOL! Well, many thousands of dollars later, I have not saved money, but I have had a lot of fun, and from cards and rubber stamping, I went on to mixed media collage, and from that I went on to actually attempting now to draw. I believe this is what is known as a "run on" sentence...... So it's a good thing.

Just returned from three days in Tucson, AZ. We are trying to decide if we want to relocate there. I took a few pictures and posted the ones I like on my Flickr site. I finished reading "The Zen of Seeing" and decided to try my hand at contour drawing. I did a couple blind contours, and a couple of, as I call it, half-blind contours. You can view them below.
Two more attempts at the potted plant -- this time really observing it. The first attempt was very deliberate and slow. I tried another time and just tried to do a looser sketch. By now the plant and I are becoming one. We are really seeing each other. I truly got so much from the book "The Zen of Seeing" I highly recommend it for people who are just learning to sketch/draw.
After reading "The Zen of Seeing", I decided it was time for a contour drawing. I love this little potted orchid. It has beautiful dark green leaves with light red veins. I attempted to just "get into" the plant, to be the plant. I drew very slowly.
