I'm continuing my practice of faces. This one turned out with a certain likeness of a famous person? Must be the round face and pouty lips. I'm also trying to incorporate trash mail or junk mail in my journal art. Why not? Might as well keep it out of the landfill whenever possible. And I'm promising myself to use stamps and other items I haven't used in forever. You know what I mean. Raise your hand if you have any art supplies you haven't used in six months or longer!!! Un huh, I thought so. This one is really simple -- just the inside of a business junk mail envelope, some acrylic paint, draw the shape of the face, fill in with gesso and then paint and draw the details with a micron pen. I tried a Faber Castille "f". Just not fine enough for me. Maybe there is a finer point. And then one of those rubber stamps I just had to have several years ago because I love swirlies and this one was just a bit different. It was sure to enhance my artwork. I'm a sucker for any swirly!!! I have to put blinders on when I see them.

This is my submission for Arttechnique's fat book swap. It was based on techniques. I spread a layer of venetian plaster on card stock. Then painted with acrylic. stamped with script stamp by Hero Arts and adhered a transparency of this beautiful image which was provided by Above the Mark. There are 120 artists participating in this swap, so I can hardly wait to see all the various techniques. It will be like a birthday or Christmas present to open.

Thank you once again, Diane, for the vote of confidence. I'm honored to receive another award and I want to pass it along to some other well deserving individuals including 1. Seth at The Altered Page who has worked so hard on the survey for The Pulse. He is compiling and posting the answers from 95 artists. What a job he undertook, and this is the second survey he has done!!!! There's also 2. Barb at Stamplicity who has one of the "sweetest" blogs I've seen. She has greyhounds too, so that makes her extra special sweet! Then there's 3. Mary at Working Projects
She makes all kinds of beautiful art including paper arts, jewelry and glass art. Her June 27 post of Dragonfly River is to die for. Oh, and there's 4. Kristy at Kristy's Musings who does beautiful transfers and all kinds of collage and "metal" works. And finally 5. Nancy at Never Enough ATC's - More Than Enough Grace who always has something interesting to view. Hop on over and see these oustanding artists' blogs.

There's a song that says "Happiness is Lubbock, Texas in My Rear View Mirror", but today I think happiness is working out at the gym and then a sugar free mocha from Peet's Coffee and Tea. I also treated myself to a 2-cup tea pot and some loose black currant tea. I have a few hours to create some art and visit blogs to get incredible inspiration from fellow artists.
On another note, happiness is connecting with community and friends. It's the give and receive attitude that makes our world more wonderful. It's also what creates a higher collective consciousness and hopefully will create that shift in consciousness toward peace. I truly believe that each individual can "live" peace and spread it throughout the world to hasten this shift.

I'm happily transferring away. This is a 7 x 14 mat board collage using two transfers overlapping each other and stamps on acrylics. I'm not sure if it's finished yet. It seems to need something else. Yet, I like it the way it is. I'll just let it sit for a while and decide later. I used the Great White paper and it rolls off like a dream leaving a beautiful transfer. I haven't had a lot of luck with transparency transfers. But I have my trusty Apollo transparency sheets, so I'm going to try one of those.

It's so nice to be back to art in my journal. I just realized the other day that if I painted every piece of journal art on a canvas, I'd have to move out. There would be no room in this house. I do so enjoy painting on canvas though. I would like to sell some of my canvases but can't decide how to go about it. To Etsy or not to Etsy, that is the question. I'm really excited about Kelly Rae Roberts' new book "Taking Flight" and am going to purchase it. She is so inspirational.

My first really good transfer with Great White paper. I used one of my sketches that had been watercolored. You can see the background papers behind the dress. This reminds me of something a southern girl would wear to the Kentucky Derby. All it needs is a hat and a mint julep.

Finally, some time to do journal art. I've been so wrapped up with preparation of 120 4 x 4 pages for the fatbook swap that I've not taken time to do whatever my muse wants to do. I loved doing the art work for the swap. It's just the production nature of it becomes a little tedious. I can hardly wait to see what the 119 other pieces will look like. There are so many really talented people signed up for this swap. Each person is signed up for a different technique. And thanks to Sherre for being the moderator/coordinator. She has her work cut out for her, no pun intended!
