This week I had fun using a tutorial that Bonnie of Pixel Dust Photo Art provided on
her blog. She gave some tips on working with a photo to turn it into an Abstract art piece.
First, the original
Then the first edit
And now I'm really having fun with blend modes, filters and textures
The final edit.
I used Bonnie's Abstract Scratches on the first edit
and then her
Abstract Splotches on the final edit.
If you want to have some fun with your post processing, hop on over to
Bonnie's blog and try her tutorial.

Your editing has turned a simple image into a wonderful abstract.
Nice work.
Marilyn -- great to connect with you again. This is my first "entry" - via Marie's newsletter and then Bonnie's Friday Photos. Your art is amazing. It's fun to spend the evening strolling through the sites. Love and hugs from Alaska. Karen in Kenai
Super fun! - You did a great job using Bonnie's textures.
love the jewel colours and the differnece between the apple and leaf
Lovely colourful daring results.
I fell for the splotches too.
I like the edits. I always have so much trouble with the abstract. When I do them they rarely look good to me. But yours are stunning. Ver well done
Wow Marilyn!! I love them both but especially the second one that seem's to glow from back-lighting. Did you use Color Blend mode to get that? Just beautiful.
Thank you for sharing your talents with Photo Art Friday and for the kind words and links, too.
Very nice abstracts.
Regards and best wishes
That turned out so well! That final edit really added the sparkle and contrast. Brilliant!
