Week 1 - Beyond Beyond

Finally.....thought I never would get this into a layout.  Played with pixlr and PicMonkey.  Don't really know what I'm doing
in Lightroom, so I was dumbfounded as to how to do a layout.  I remember it seemed so simple when Kim did it in the LR class.  Just can't remember how it was done.
Our assignment this week for Beyond Beyond, the second edition of Beyond Layers, was to do a photo shoot of an object from different angles, play with it.  I took about 30 shots and culled to about 10......played with them in LR and then in PSE.
My granddaughter gave me a beautiful tea mug for Christmas.  I love the organic shape of the rim and the flower image.

I could not resist adding in the mini roses from Trader Joe's.  They were in such a pretty little container with a heart design.....perfect for Valentine's.
I found it difficult to get a lot of different angles, simply because my space is so limited.  I get very little light in my house, so I madly attempted to create an artistic setup right next to the sliding glass door.  It's one of the few areas where I can get enough light for a decent exposure.  Even that area is not as light as I would like.  I was wedged between the door and this still life....in some precarious positions!  After lots of fiddling in both programs I was somewhat satisfied and chose these 6 images.

I can so understand the lack of light. We've been having so much gray weather here, indoor photography is pretty limited. You did a wonderful job!!

Love the layout here! And laughed at your 'getting the shot'. Sometimes i feel like i am doing yoga in order to get the right angles! Who knew that photography could be a work out?
Hey....I lived in Yorba Linda for a year....(1984)...but we headed back to the Northwoods of Wisconsin.

Nice job. I think my favorite is the one with the teacup, roses and spoon. I think the roses add a great splash of color to the arrangment.

Hi Marilyn,
Thanks for visiting me and leaving a note! I really like your college. I buy my flowers from Trader Joe's also - love their assortment and prices. I"m still in the Beyond Layers II group that ends in March - such good stuff but I am having a bit of trouble keeping up... Exciting to see the new Beyond Beyond though!

Warmly,
Sharon

Hi Marilyn - though I saw your work on Flickr, the BB link took me to your blog....so I apologize..and admit I am chuckling at your description - it is exactly as I experienced - very little light, very little space! That is a challenge, isn't it? You have a beautiful composition of pretty photos, and nice angles - great work!!

These are gorgeous. I struggled with the light too - it is so grey here! Love your mug and that sweet little teapot tea strainer. :) Great collage - love all the different views.

Oh my goodness I didn't realize Beyond Beyond had started...well I am starting out great !!! Hey you don't need LR, these photos are absolutely perfect. You have done an yeoman's job of photographing under difficult circumstances, seeking natural light and being squished in between. Really truly this is a wonderful photographic tea party. And I love your new tea cup. Your granddaughter will be so happy. Ugh, now what do I do, I am more than behind!
